Over 100 new bus shelters have been installed across the borough replacing those removed in 2021. Restoring the bus shelters on the borough’s streets has been a priority for Executive Mayor, Jason Perry.
Working in close partnership with Transport for London (TfL), the Council secured a deal that has delivered 101 new shelters in just under 100 days, from the first installation to the last. This has been a significant logistical effort involving careful coordination between the Council, TfL, and contractors.
More than 88,000 people use the bus network in Croydon daily, and it is hoped the new shelters will improve journeys and attract new passengers.
Two further shelters are due to be installed later this year, they are currently being delayed until location surveys have been completed.
TfL’s investment in the new shelters follows last year’s introduction of Superloop route SL5, between Bromley North and Croydon, and is part of a set of planned works which will improve the transport network across the borough.

Any graffiti or vandalism to the shelters can be reported to TfL through their street care reporting tool.
